oKAY, here is the question, I have a 256 card, when I transfer a file to the
card through activesync, it often runs a file convertsion, which is great if
I want to look at it on the PPC but sometimes I don't want the formats to be
changed and I don't want to look at it on the PPC anyway, can I create a
folder on the storage card that does not use activesync to transfer or
rather is there a way to just drag and drop a file onto the new folder.????

No, unfortunately there isn't. You can turn any of the conversions off in
the Tools>options>rules>conversion settings section of AS though. The vast
majority of files do not actually need to be converted, they just take up
less room when they are.
The other option is a small USB card reader.

let me ask this, let say I have a 1 gig card in the ppc, and I take it out
and put it in a card reader, then I create a new folder and add files and
then put it in the ppc, is that a workaround that would work, I ask because
I don't havea card reader and it would be nice to know before I go and buy
one.

Multi card readers are so cheap and useful (6-8 pounds in the UK) it's
hardly worth the contemplation :-)

The answer is yes. That's what I do all the time.
One other solution to moving files around would be to zip them, and then
transfer them over. A zipped file won't be converted.

Yes all the responses are valid. You will find that excel, word, pdfs and
pictures are readable with the Pocket versions without any conversion if you
need to. If you are using a Powerpoint solution other than Clearvue, .ppts
do need to be converted using their independent converters. Clearvue can
read native .ppt files. If though, you are just wanting to use the PPC as a
suitcase to transfer files, the zip option is a pretty good one. It will cut
down your transfer time, as well as ensuring nothing on the PPC or in AS
disturbs the file.
