well im not sure how much 500pound will get you
about half a tonne probly
lol

definetly got the 7600gt its almost double the performance of a stock 7600gs so it will still be alot better than an o/c 7600gs

if you can wait til july 24th amd is lowering its cpu prices by around 50%
and also core2duo will be out which will be better price and performance than amd x2's

core2duo is coming out on july 23rd
amd is lowering prices to try compete with the core2duo's

the budget core2duo the e6300 will be similar in performance to a 4800+ and will cost ALOT less

i guess ill wait till the core due comes out, whats the differece between core duo and duel core?

Core Duo is the name of the processor that's coming out(Conroe). Dual Core is what your processor is, it can be single like IP 4 like mine.

the core2duo m/b's will use socket 775 the same as the current pentium4's/pentiumD's

the core2duo in the same price range as the 3800+(after the price drop of amd's) will probly be 20-30% improvement over the 3800+

Let me see if I understand this...Wait, so I can get a Socket 775 mobo now and wait for Core2Duo to come out? Same mobos? That means I can upgrade my processor on this comp to Core2Duo!

Turk, I don't think you should get that case. There's less room for upgradeability. Get a ATX Mid Toer case. Your mobo might not fit in the Micro ATX case. I can't see how big it is. :)

will the performances be much better then a duel core 3800

Many hardware sites have benchmarked the upcoming Conroe CPUs (July 23rd). Model E6300 will be the slowest, while E6700 will be the fastest. Shipped in lots of 1000, the price will range from about $200 to $530 USD; that's roughly £110 - £291. Retail price should be higher, also don't forget to add in 17.5% VAT.

Click here for a www.PCPer.com recent view the compares Conroe to AMD's faster CPUs. Note that the slowest Conroe E6300 CPU can compete very well against the X2 4800+ and the very expensive FX-62 when it comes to games.

AMD will be slashing prices on July 24th because they need to compete against Conroe especially when the inexpensive E6300 can compete against the X2 4800+ and FX-62 in games. AMD is in a world of hurt until they can release their next generation CPU, K8L, sometime in mid 2007.

If you want to build a cheap PC then go with AM2, but I think the best bang for the buck (pound) is to go with Conroe.
