Sigh, since you're incapable (or perhaps too stupid) of looking at the sticky at the top of the forum here you go.

See guys this right here is the sh1t I am talking about. I am simply doing the things I am doing just too make a point. Little Fuking sh1t talking f@gs like action man and a few others can call other members whatever they please and never ever suffer any consequinces from it but the second anyone else says anything like this you get a PM from RCpilot threating to ban you  You cannot tell me the Admin dont play favorits around here

Action Man's list won't be accurate at release because the Conroe chips will be in high demand, short supply. Expect every supplier to jack up the prices and/or have them listed as "not available" or "on backorder" -- until very late in the fourth quarter, when supply ramps up.
My prediction (which I'm pulling out of my ass) is that you can add about $100 to each processor on that list until supply somewhat catches up to demand around mid September or early October.

Ummm... that seems to be different than what I've read on a few sites. July 23rd is the date that a few models (not all, but some) Conroe will be available. Yes, I suspect that most will be allocated to 1st tier PC manufactures (Dull, HPQ, etc.)
This is what Intel is showing for July 23rd (list prices in USD for lots of 1,000)
X6800 2.93GHz 4M $999
E6700 2.67GHz 4M $530
E6600 2.40GHz 4M $316
E6400 2.13GHz 2M $224
E6300 1.86GHz 2M $183
I do agree that availability will likely not be great for the first couple of months. And prices likely considerably above stock.
Other models will arrive in early 2007. But suspect a few quality retailers will not take excessive advantage of the market, since they will wish to continue to maintain respect and be satified with decent profit margins...

For OCing, the better choices are between the E6600 (for 4M cache and possibly higher OC) and E6400 (for budget OCing). The E6300 with a 7x multiplier looks to be too restrictive

Then again "the dual-core Core 2 Duo E4200 (1.6GHz) with 800MHz bus is due in early 2007. Actually, despite the lower price, it will support higher clock frequency multiplier of 8x and lower nominal system bus frequency of 200MHz, which will make it a more attractive solution for overclockers."

Good points, but ...
A recent article on the Tom's Hardware front page indicated that Core 2 Duo will likely represent no more than 20 percent of Intel's production by year's end. Notice Intel is still introducing new variations of the 900 series Core chips too.
Core 2 Duo (Conroe) is going to be in high demand among enthusiasts and it doesn't look like supply will keep up with demand initially.
Who here would be willing to pay $283 for an E63400 1.86Ghz 2M?
Or $324 for an E6400 2.13 Ghz 2M?
I would, and I think I'd be glad I was able to snag one for "only" $100 over list price.
I might even sprig for $425 or so to get an E6600 2.40GHZ 4M -- maybe.
I think a lot of enthusiasts would, and the suppliers know that.
Supply and demand. Regardless of a suppliers' interest in "serving its customers," the temptation is going to be to jack up the price on a popular product that is limited in availability.
That's just basic economics.

I heard 25%, but even 20% of Intel's Cpu equals more than AMD's entire CPU division of processors... and as enticing as Conroe's will be, there will still be a demand for mobile processors, Xeons, and yes, even P4's...
I suspect, as always, if you want one bad enough, you will find outlets to get your Conroe's at reasonable pricing, tho it may get thin before reshipments arrive, all indicators are pointing at a hard launch... so expect it...

Subject tells all... :?:

too much, because in 6 months you will see you wasted your money.... That is when the AMD quad core will rule over the intel dual/quad core....

and in 6 more months it will be phased out with 8 core processors. It called tech advamcement.

btw the conroes will be cheaper than the x2's right now. a e6600 at 2.4 will be about the speed of an fx 60 for $305 i think
