I have an AMD 2800+ Barton core, on an Asus A7N8E-DX mobo. It's running at 2.08 stock. Anyone else here tried OCing this combo? Just wondering if it's worth the effort, or if I'll have to shell out $ for extra cooling/psu etc. I'm building a new rig right now; just thought I'd try maxing this one out before I retire it.

this looks like a high-end XP, don't know what kind of OC you'll get but if you got a decent GPU, I wouldn't advise upgrading now. In short, overclock the crap out of it and try to make it crap out on july 23rd(I know it's a contradiction but it sounds mighty fun).

Honestly.. the bartons did have a roof which made the 2500 a sweetspot. You probably have some room. Top OC on the xp core was near 2.6-2.7. with air it's hard to risk more than 2.4-2.5. This assumes you have it well over 200fsb. Articles are everywhere if you google. If the multiplier is locked you can get a special "plate" that effectively shorts two of the pins and unlocks it..it's like 6 bucks.
