Here's the situation. My dell dimension 8300's mobo just fried. I have to get a new mobo, however I don't want a dell one because they are too expensive. This also means that I have to get a new case as well.

I am looking at these cases: http://www.antec.com/Detail.bok?no=466

I have an antec smartpower 400. The p180 does not come with a psu
the other two do. I am looking to do this for as cheap as possible
I have a 2.8ghz p4 northwood cpu. I also have a geforce 6800 agp card. then the standard hard drive, dvd burner etc.
What case and motherboard should I get? I don't mind selling my card and moving to a pci-e card either. I really would like a mobo that will allow me to upgrade later. any suggestions?

Unless you're going to sell your current p4 as well... you're stuck with socket 478 boards (and AGP).

If you don't want to sell the northwood chip and go to lga775, then i would say go for the Asus P4P800SE. If you do want to sell the northwood and do a complete upgrade, go for the Asus P5GD1-VM. This board will allow you to keep your DDR1 ram, but also uses PCI-E for the video.

I don't mind selling my cpu and ram. However, would it be better for me to just get a cheap motherboard and case (i have to dell does not use standard mobos) or go ahead and do a full upgrade?

edit***
I have decided to just get a new case and motherboard and keep everything else.
I know I need a socket 478 and my old mobo is an 875p. What kind of motherboard can I get?
I saw this
http://www.hypermicro.com/product.asp?pf_id=MBIN527LPT

According to the specs, it has a total of 8 usb ports (4 front, 4 back), 1 1394a, audio and mic at the back. I compared the specs to the 8300 board, and they're almost identical except for the chipset.
