How big is your monitor(s) and how many do you have running on your main PC?

I was thinking of getting the biggest I could get in the future, 30 inches or whatever it is, but I realized it would look humorous sitting on top of my subwoofer. Plus, it costs too much anyway.

More about : big monitor

My monitor is 6.5 inches and I only have one. Though, i think it would be cool to have 2. *DP* ;-)

You should at least consider moving up to a 7 inch someday. Get two of them as widescreen is the shiznit nowadays.

I have a 19 inch Viewsonic LCD with an 8ms response time. It has analog connectors, but it still has good image quality. Before that, I had a 15 inch Hitachi LCD which came with my old Dell. It had a terrible response time (40ms?), and I had ghosting in games. That's why I replaced it.

I run a single 17" Flat CRT @ 1280x1024. It's an NEC model FE771SB.

I've thought getting another screen several times, such as a Sun 21" flat CRT or a ViewSonic 2ms 19" LCD, but I'm happy enough with this screen that I don't really need to upgrade. Besides, my current system can't run games any higher than 1280x1024 (I prefer high AF over high res or AA).

Side note....it sounds like your subwoofer is on top of your desk. If so, why? It sounds better under your desk because of the resulting resonation.

I have a 21inch dell CRT (which is focking nice IQ wise), a 19inch philips LCD something a rather and my dodgy 68cm CRT tv.

I'm also looking into getting one of those 24inch widescreen dells. That'd be so focking sweet.
June 29, 2006 12:12:27 AM

When you play games, is your game on one screen or on all of your screens?

For the person who talked about the subwoofer. I never tried placing the subwoofer on the floor. I like to have my monitor up as high as I can. It helps one's posture.

As for the guy with the fat guy in the pic, can you please take the pic down? It is just too demeaning to have it next to words that describe high-end computer hardware.

Single 17.1" LCD @ 1280x1024 MAG here

....shouldnt this be in the display section? not the cpu one?
June 29, 2006 12:24:30 AM

wow. u have absolutely no idea how to use these forums, do you? read the FAQ dumbass. that way we can all tell who the fark ur talking to.

now go away noob. sooner rather than later. and quit asking stupid questions like "does watercooling make my computer faster?"

as for the fat thing... i'm 6'1 and 212lbs. I would hardly call that fat. big maybe... but not fat. now... ugly i may be, but if 99% of everyone in here is afraid to show their pic, just how fat and ugly are they?
June 29, 2006 12:24:55 AM

And what does that has to do in the CPU section?
June 29, 2006 12:26:43 AM

Currently a 22" NEC CRT, 17" Planar flat panel and 17" V7 flat panel (Crap), that's on my main machine, got a couple viewsonic 17" flats and 19" crts and a few dell 17" trinitrons on servers and such.
June 29, 2006 12:43:31 AM

and my answer to your question was purposefully insipid. you've flooded the forums for 2-3 days now with continually retarded questions. what's worse is you never thank anyone for their advice or input. u just say stupid things like "but i don't wanna spend more than $300... waaaahhhh!"

ugh. noobs should not be able to create threads.

Makes me think back to the classic live album "Zappa in New York" wherein FZ states: "There's a lot more of us ugly mofos than you". (sic)

6'1" and 212? Sounds like a pro football DB to me. Then again, my stats don't look fat but since 79% of my body mass is brain, I'm neither pretty nor lean.

I don't have an inch-monitor...I have a cm-monitor of 29 and it glows in the dark,

June 29, 2006 1:20:19 AM

wait, you put your monitor on a subwoofer? lolololololol! youre just missing the electromagnet right by your hard drive, then your computer will enter into warp speed. come on. and water cool your keyboard, you'll type faster.
June 29, 2006 2:13:38 AM

i was thinking the same thing. i didn't say anything 'cause i <thought> this guy was probably intelligent enough to put on a shielded subwoofer.

i see the err of my ways now though.

The only bad thing is, the damn heat coming out of the beast LOL

I noticed that as well, but for some reason I just assumed that he probably has a cheap Dell rig with an LCD, in which case the magnetic field shouldn't make much difference anyway. If he has a CRT though, then that is just begging for trouble.

In any case, I still don't understand not having the subwoofer under the desk. :?
June 29, 2006 2:58:45 AM

ive got a dell ultrascan p991, its a 19" crt. it uses the wega tube.. i like it.. tho its getting older, it still has a beautiful pic.
June 29, 2006 3:15:44 AM

Not sure how this relates to thee CPU forum, but anyway...

Viewsonic VP191b - and loving it.

I really want 2* VP930b, but can't find any in Australia that will ship new and less than $AU700.

21" ViewSonic CRT & 19" Sony LCD

The ViewSonic monitor has an "UltraBrite Mode" wich basically just kicks up the brightness and contrast a bit, really nice for gaming and movie watching.
June 29, 2006 3:41:05 AM

Two monitors: 19" CRT and a 17" LCD

Once you try two monitors, you'll never go back.
June 29, 2006 3:41:12 AM

Yup, same thing basically and it'll beat ANY lcd for gaming and color accuracy!

I have my 20.1" Dell 2001FP (1600x1200, DVI) and a 19" Dell E193FP (1280x1024, RGB, I am safekeeping it for somebody who's away) attached to a little GeForce 6200TC and in a wonderful TwinView/Xinerama spanned desktop mode. The two different resolutions and dot pitches is a little funky, but it is a lot better than just the 2001FP alone.

2 *identical* spanned monitors of 17-20" will yield more screen real estate than a 30" model and be a BUNCH cheaper. I'd suggest going the dual-head route.

Dood, do it...they ARE nice...I was thinking maybe I shouldn't have bought it, but after sitting at computers with 19" crap LCD screens I was praising my Dell 2405FPW 1920x1200.
June 29, 2006 4:39:39 AM
