DVD drive woes.

I recently formatted and reinstalled windows, before this my dvd drive worked fine. Now however its acting up a bit. I can install a game from it, but if a game needs to be in the drive, the game simply will not run.

For example, today I reinstalled Battlefield 2, it installed fine. But when I tried to run it with the DVD in the drive it wouldn't start. So I made an image of the dvd mounted it in a virtual drive and presto! It works. Have the same problem with F.E.A.R and the new Ghost Recon too.

I'm not really tech savvy so this has baffled me a bit, any idea what could be wrong? :?
