Where to find a NEW 6600GT or 6800GT?

Good luck finding a 6800 GT.

Is this for an AGP board?

Best AGP deal I've seen recently is the X800 XL... about as fast as the 6800 GT, for $130 on Ati's site.

Yes AGP and I really wanted to stay away from ATI and refurbished items. This will be my last AGP card but must last at least 2 more years.

If ATI is my only option Which cards in the 100-150 range would be my best bet.

I see a BFG 6600gt OC on ebay for 150 and 20 shipping seems high to me what do you guys think?

Hmm..Yeah, it does seem slightly higher than what I expected, as cards in that price range perform better, in the PCI-e type's, of course. Here is one deal:

BFG 6800GT

For some reason it doesn't list it, but the price from Froogle lists' it at a very good price of $155 w/ $10 shipping. The site seems a little fishy, though...

$150 for a 6600 GT is a waste and overpriced. Look to new online stores, like newegg.

Try looking harder. If it has to be Nvidia, a 6800 GS is better (not as good as the 6800 GT/X800 XL though), you might find one for cheap.

It's too bad you're not an Ati fan, the best new buy you're probably going to find for AGP is an X800 GTO or X800 XL from Ati's site.

You might want to get past your brand preference, that X800 XL would deliver twice the framerates/resolution of a 6600 GT for cheaper...

AGP is severely overpriced right now compared to PCIe, unfortunately.

Tiger Direct can get you a 6800 Xtreme, which seems to be the 6800 XT I think: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2265955&CatId=0

Go ahead and copy and paste, too lazy to put it in HTML.

That is another one.

Plenty of X1600, but they are ATI. Go and look at this search, a few 6600's in there:

If you are going high-end, GET THIS CARD !! It has a 7900 Core and costs less than most 7900GT's available and also has double the memory. Best AGP card out there.

~Ibrahim~

P.S. What the heck is a 7900GS?

Well, until that is released, the Gainward card I mentioned should hold on, I mean it is pretty much a 7900GTX, maybe not all the clocks, but same amount of pipelines, memory, core.

Wow, ATI is getting behind in the AGP business, the fastest is the X850XT PE, then maybe the X1600 Pro..

LOL, You skipped a few cards inbetween the two.

X850XTpe

X800XTpe
X850XT
X800XT
X800XL
X850 pro
X800 pro
X800GTO 256MB
X800 256MB
X800 GTO 128MB (slower mem clocks than 256MB version)
X800 128MB (ditto)
X800GT
X1600XT

X1600 pro

Unless you are in the UK and could get a decent price on the Gainward bliss 7800GS, I'd go for a plain 7800GS for $260, or a X850pro for $139. The 6800GT new will cost near a 7800GS and is much slower (about equal to the X850 pro), and the 6600GT will cost about as much as the X850 pro and doesn't even come close in performance.

Well let me say I have a P4 2.4 with 512mb of rdram pc800 going to upgrade to 1G

So I'm thinking in my price range of 100-150 I have more ATI options and availibility is better. So I will look at switching over to the darkside for a few years.

Now x800 series is my best bet?

Well, I knew that had all those cards, those are the newest ones out; and the X850XT PE was like 1-2 years ago?

Hmm..250W is pushing it. But I've seen people with a X800XT in a 300W. It would be for the better for something beefier, yet not overblown. Something in the range of ~$50 or so. You want Antec, Thermaltake, OCZ, Enermax, maybe Aspire, FSP Group, and possibly Zalman as well. At least 450+...

Yeah, probably the X800 XL. Next would be the X850/800 PRO, and X800 GTO after that, IMHO.

Don't worry too much about switching vendors. I use both Nvidia and Ati cards all the time. They're both really great for gaming, you won't be dissapointed with a card because of it's vendor, just make sure you're getting horsepower for your money.

I have 2 6800GTs, 1 ATI X800XL, and a 7800GS. The GTs and XL run neck and neck on most games - both have a full compliment of 16 pipes. Since ATI is running a special on the XL for cheap, I'd go this direction. The only thing is that it doesn't show off HDR as well as the GTs. The GS is appreciably better with the latest generation of games, i.e. FEAR, Oblivion..., but won't perform any better on older games (older than Half Life 2, Far Cry....), and costs a whole lot more!!!

Whale of a deal!

good luck!
