Thinking of going for the XFX 7600GT XXX, any other cards, ATi or Nvidea that fit the price range and can perform any better?

7600GT is a safe decision under $200. Also consider X1800GTO if you're into overclocking.

Go with the 7600GT or the X1800GTO. Stay away from the x1600 xt or pro, they dont match the 7600GT or the x1800GTO.

It just comes down to which company you like better, Nvidia or ATI. ATI has better eye candy visuals (in some games) where Nvidia can sustain slightly higher fps (in some games). I personally am an Nvidia fan but I have to admit, the x1800s and x1900s (unless I am smoking something and the x1900s are not out) are very promising cards.

If you are considering going dual-gpu in the future, go with the 7600GT because an ATI card that can go Crossfire is like $300-400 (i think) where you can just buy another 7600GT later and slap that in.

Now don't go telling porkie-pies if you don't know.

The X1800GTO can do Crossfire WITHOUT any specialized card. Slap 2 GTOs together and voila, Xfire. So they both do that.

Ok :D  I am not familiar with how to setup Crossfire, i was just going from what I remember of the original Crossfire design, from the x800's
