I'm having problems syncronizing my IPAQ 3800 series with my home
computer, it continually tells me that there is no moden at the number
it is dialing. I have direct connection to the internet using cable,
but since I d/l active sync 3.7.1 nothing works properly any suggestions?

Check your internet settings in Internet Explorer.
Tools|Options|Connections. If you have cable, you should have "Never
Dial" selected.

What OS are you using? I vaguely recall there being a problem with
Win95/98/ME machines that couldn't go online as long as the Pocket PC
was docked.

Oh. Windoze. 733t 5p3/\k.
Sorry - I've never seen a problem like that reported. It has to be
something on your machine that isn't playing well with ActiveSync -
perhaps your cable modem software if you installed it or some other
dialing software/optimizer. About the only thing I can think of is
your firewall. If it is blocking/redirecting ActiveSync trying to
communicate with the desktop and internet passthrough, for some reason
your system is trying to find a modem. ActiveSync itself doesn't dial.
It simply looks for a TCP/IP connection. If it requests it and
"windoze" can't give it one, it is the OS that tries to get online -
not ActiveSync.
