I see retail prices for the 840 that are way lower than those numbers in the article and I see them all over. Early adopter sales or something?

examples: 120GB/120GB with kit
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7td120bw
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7td120kw
Three sites selling for $110/$130 (no, that's not with an MIR, that's the base price).

250GB/250GB with kit:
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7td250bw
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7td250kw
One site selling (no kit) for $190, two for $200. Two sites selling (with kit) for $210, one for $220.

500GB/500GB with kit:
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7td500bw
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7td500kw
One site selling (no kit) for $390, three for $400. One site selling (with kit) for $400, one for $420.

There are a few other prices for some of them that are way below the article's prices, but I left them out for these that are the lowest. Newegg and Amazon are almost always selling at or near the cheapest of these, so it's not even just lesser known sites doing it.

Again, this site is plagued by someone who can't read.
Guys, this offer is for the 840 "PRO" series, there is a difference between the two!

Please read before posting nonsense.

840 Series 120 GB - $139.99 / $169.99 w/kit
840 Series 250 GB - $259.99 / $269.99 w/kit
840 Series 500 GB - $699.99 / $719.99 w/kit
840 Pro Series 128 GB - $189.99
840 Pro Series 256 GB - $339.99
840 Pro Series 512 GB - $889.99

The regular 840 (NOT pro) prices are right above the Pro prices in this article and they're far from retail prices that I'm seeing. I'd appreciate it if people who would accuse someone of poor reading skills would actually read the article before posting nonsense.

Also, retail prices for the Pro models are also lower than these numbers.
128GB 840 Pro:
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7pd128bw
One selling for $150, two for $155.

256GB 840 Pro:
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7pd256bw
Two selling for $270, one for $310.

512GB 840 Pro:
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7pd512bw
Two selling for $600, one for $613, and one for $628.

[citation][nom]Old_Fogie_Late_Bloomer[/nom]As far as I can tell, the non-Pro 840 does not support encryption? So if I want a half a terabyte of storage with hardware encryption, I have to pay $200, or 50% more ($600 vs $400 street price)?[/citation]

Why couldn't you just use Truecrypt?

honestly this isnt to bad considering the game is 60$ new
if you want the game and an ssd, not a bad deal

also, ubisoft removed online only drm, and issued an apology a while back.
