Hi,
Pentium D 930 has a much better performance than AMD 64 3800+ and the price is almost the same (pentium D: 180 euros, AMD 64 3800+: 143 euros). AMD dual core is much, much expensive than PENTIUM D and i do not compare them.
For many time i was a "AMD fan", but now intel is most offordable in price/performance than AMD.
AMD consumes less power, but the difference in the electricity bill will be very little.
What do you think? Should I buy an intel or AMD?

Get the Pentium D, you should also check if the corresponding mobo supports Conroe processors.

prozac26 is right, you talk about the single core 3800+ and compare it with a dual core (that's what the "D" after the "Pentium" means) the X2 3800+ is a different story (about 240Euros but no contest with the 930 in 3D.)

I know that.
I'm comparing 2 CPUs with the same price (almost), not with the same technology because the cheapest AMD 64 X2 is much more expensive than PENTIUM D 930.
When buying something, the decision is over wich is best for the same price or for the money that is supposed to spend.

guess 40Euros of difference are prety much; 140 & 180 are far from being the same price.
you could get a celeron with the difference :D

yeah
AMD 64 X2 3800+ 303 euros VS Pentium D 930 180 euros. 123 euros difference... is much more than 40 euros...

AMD will be releasing an X2 3600 that should be priced competitively with the D 930. I just don't know when it will be released.

true, but by then why not just wait for conroe already?

and what a stupid comment about the celeron. the lower price doesn't justify it's performance/ratio in that area.

read it again; think you didn't get it right! I just said the difference in price is as much as another CPU (a celeron for instance).
