primary slave or secendary master?

hi
my computer has 2 hdd's both ide
the main drive is primary master(obviously)

should i put the second one as primary slave or secendary master?

where should i put my dvd burner?

does this matter at all?

What are the speed of the drives?ata 100,133?

If both your drives are say ata 100's, the make your secondary drive slaved to the master.

Then keep your opti devices on a separate channel because they typically only run at 33 or 66. If your configure your HDDs onto any opti device, it will only work at the speed of the slowest device.

Could you show a link to something that shows this reduced speed.

I thought the new controllors didnt have the problem of speed reduction.
I havent noticed it on mine.

then, you could put the 2nd disk as the secondary master and dvd burner as secondary slave
