What's your favorite/best graphics card overclock experiance? What graphics series was it? What were the stock speeds and what speeds did you get it to? Any funny overclock stories? Have you blown anything up? How did you get it to run at that insanely high clock speed...?

Just thought some of you might have some cool/amusing stories that would be fun to share!

My favorite overclock was last year my PCIe eVGA Geforce 6600, it had stock clocks of 300Mhz core and 500Mhz memory. Since it didn't come with ramsinks stock I took an old aluminum heatsink and chopped it into peices to fit the ram blocks and then stuck them on with Artic Silver 5. By the time I was done I had the core up to 500Mhz and the memory to 601Mhz (yes the 1Mhz is important, the slider skipped from 599 to 601... never could get 600  ). It ran stable at these speeds for good periods of time, every so often I would start to get artifacts in BF2 but it took it a while. With my system of the time I go a 3D Mark 05 score of 1800 stock, this increased to over 3000!

The 3DMark score that I linked in my siggy is with my X600 overclocked from 450/290MHz core/mem to 565/310MHz core/mem. That's on stock cooling, with no heatsinks on the RAM. At stock speeds, it gets about 2,000 in 3DMark05, and when overclocked, it gets 2,265. I've also overclocked the Diamond Viper V550 in my little brother's computer, but I don't know the speeds off the top of my head.

My favourite overclock has been my radeon 9200, it was my first overclock, so it was an adventure and heaps of fun (although i didn't get it much faster  ) it went from 200core 166mem to 319.5core 205.50mem, on the stock heatsinks.

I can push my 7800gs really far, I don't let it run far because for the most part my system is cpu limited, but I can hit 480/1420 from 400/1250 (375/1200 nvidia stock)... Too bad I can't staple a zalman 900 cooler on it... =(

my BFG 6800 was a dud, I couldn't overclock that thing for the life of me. Stock is 325/700 and if I remember correctly I only got 360/730 out of it. Poo =(

I also had a Ti4200 i fried, stock is 250/444 and I remember hitting 300+ and about 550 memory when I started seeing hardcore artifacts, so I returned it to default clock speeds... too late, memory got so hot it burned the "if removed warranty is void" sticker. Oh well =P

my favorit OC would probably be my MSI 6600GT 500/900 stock to 580/1.05
with the stock MSI copper Cooler.

i OC'd a 6800GT by taking off the HUGE leadtek copper cooler and removing the thermal pads, putting AS5 in its place. 325/700 stock to 370/820. ran really cool.

Probably my G6600, first one ever oc'ed. Selled it today (thatswhy my sig is so 90's  ). It went from 300/500 stock to 550/550. My benchmark score went up from 2000 to 3000 :D .

I destroyed two AGP 6800GTs back in late 2004; overclocking damage.

The first 6800GT hit 440MHz core and 1.25GHz memory, and ended up dying on me; the second card hit 420MHz but the memory couldn't take the 1.2GHz thanks to a fan failure. Both covered by warranties so no harm.

My BFG Geforce FX5500 OC PCI, my first overclock, i used the Fatal1ty zalman vf700 cooler, stock 270/400 to 333/450, that lasted for 3 days, performance was much better than stock though, and better than what i have it at now, which is 315/440, if i go higher, it will freeze up for about 10 sec once in a while. Im still using this card.

My first OC was on a Nvidia GF4 Ti4200. I installed extra RAMsinks but kept the stock cooler. I got up to 325Mhz core 650 Mhz memory clock. That is about a stock Ti4600 I believe. It ran 3DMark2001SE. However I am quite happy with a mild OC (275/550 from 250/500).

edit: 64MB edition :) XFX

Well i busted 4 video cards i think on oc (2xLeadtek 5700ultra ddr3 and 2xAsus 6600gt) :) the best oc i got on the leadtek 6001150 and on the asus 5701228 on stock cooling. The worst part was when i put a Arctic cooling on the 5700 and it had a back plate to support back side memory and i diden't realise that and i booted up and the card started to make sounds,,,,

my only GPU overclock

I paid 140$ Canadian for an x800xl which they were selling for 350$ Canadian at the time.

398 / 493 I went all the way to 600/600 but my power supply failed.

I figure il test for stability at that speed in the summer... maybe even reach further if it allows it.

570/570 was stable

At the moment I am doing 550/550 because its so damn hot.

But from 398/493 to 550/550(even 570/570) on air for 140$ Canadian rocks in my opinion.

w00t for R420 in XL!

and max out around 110c on the temps
now thats hot

but i have since found the problem and added an arctic cooler
i runs fine and cool now
