Hi,
How would I do a domain consolidation?
I have a single forest with 2 domains.
One domain is a root domain e.g. abba.com and another domain which is a
child domain to the parent as baby.abba.com.
How would i consolidate and then later take out completely child domain?

I am in mixed mode at this time, was thinking of going Native and then move
over all the user and computers to Parent Domain ( which is root of the
forets also).

please suggest?
Thanks

Take the parent to native and use ADMTv2 to
migrate from the child to the parent.

hi,
I really thought that once the Domains are in Native mode and if there is
a trust on ecan move objects among the forest and Domains?
I will certainly try ADMT.
Thanks

There are no requirements for the SOURCE domain
to be in Native mode but it won't hurt.

You've a number of options here...

Here's three:

-- Create a new single-domain forest and migrate objects from parent and
child to the new domain.
-- Use movetree and netdom to move user and computer accounts from the
child to the parent.
-- Migrate all security principles from the child to the parent using
something like ADMT.

Sure, you can move users and computers with movetree, but there are
limitations based on the rules and scope of group membership.

Also, movetree doesn't disjoin computer accounts from the domain, so netdom
is recommended for moving computer objects.
