Pent D 805 Dual Core @ 2.66MHz - hit me with your best shot!

Tom's overclocking article recommends using a costly, top end ASUS or Gigabyte board for this CPU. But I'm limited to $100-$130, onboard RAID and video card are optional. I'm not planning to overclock just yet, but would like to cover (up to 3.1 GHz) - no more.

Appreciate your suggestions.

  1. You can get a cheap motherboard like an ECS C19-A SLI for $79.99 here:

I'm running the same mobo and cpu @ 3.6 GHz.
  2. They recommend it, but also say that any of the chipset motherboards should do, except don't get MSI. I'm sure that a cheaper chipset model would work ? but probably wouldn't handle overclocking so well...
