when i over clock my opty 165(240*9) should i mess with the vcore at all or should i make it higher or lower on stock cooling

Raise it in 1 volt increments until you reach the desired clock speed.

ADDED: Don't do that. .05 increments up to 10% of the total is the rule of thumb in many cases if the chip is unstable. 10% max is typically the tolerance of the chip.

OK you have an opty 165 you can oc it to 250 fsb easy with out needing to volt it. The only time you need to begin to add volts is if the system starts becoming unstable at the higher clock speeds. Now how to test it is run 2 instances of prime95, one for each core, for a day or 2 you'll know if you need the volts if it crashes or comes up with errors
