i'm talking socket am2 for both btw.
I would take the 4800+, just for the fact that the 5000+ has the uneven multipler, and the AM2 mem controller won't run uneven multi's memory at full speed. It doesn't make that much difference, but if you're gonna overclock, then you can probably hit as high with the 4800+ as the 5000+ anyway. Just my opinion. :?

What ever you do, wait until end of July or beginning of August.

:)

I would opt for the 5000+ because they are no longer making 4800+ AM2's (just available stock, so if you find one you find one.) Last I checked 4800+ were not listed on some site and others were "out of stock".

This site says last ship is in december but last order was on June 28th, which means you can probably hunt around and find some 4800+ but I expect them to be scarce.Oh yeah, i was forgetting about AMD dropping the 1MB processors.

definetly get the 4800+
1. it doesnt stuff up the memory controller.
2. current ones have 1mb l2cache and all 5000+ have 512k
