I upgraded my Jornada 568 to a Dell Axim x30, and it strikes me that the
SD on this is SO MUCH Slower than my CF of my jornada. Maybe its just
cause I'm installing 60 Megs of apps to it, but the transfer is done,
and now the installs for each of these is so slow...

Is it just this or is SD alot slower than CF, even tho this is a much
faster PDA?

Different makes may be different speeds. The only way for you to be sure is
to try both cards in the same machine for comparison.

Are there any reviews of these or similar "fast" cards with test results
demonstrating their "enhanced" status?

There are some tests of memory cards, often on sites about digital cameras.

Specifically about speed?

Speed is possibly more important for digital photography than ppc's. Speed
was the main aspect of the tests I saw but I can't say I've looked lately so
don't know what cards were featured, but read and write transfer rates were
measured.

Does anyone know if PPC's use the full 4-bit SD interface? If they only use
1-bit that would really slow them down. I'm just curious...

I do know that different brands of cards can vary widely in performance.
Specifically, Sandisk often uses a "bit-doubling" technique that is really
slow on write times, but OK on read times. Lexar/Panasonic are generally
pretty fast.
