I was wondering why 7900, 7600 and older cards aren't part of this? Also, wouldn't it help to see better variety of benchmarking, ie 3dMark05 and Doom3 which I'd imagine more people might have or be able to run, than say FEAR, Age of Empires 3 or 3d Mark.

Well I've been going there for a while.

I emailed Tom's Hardware:

Hi!

Your interactive VGA charts is a great idea, but could it be expanded
to show a greater variety of cards, and maybe older cards?

For example, there are no 7600 cards, 7900 or x800pro.

It would certainly help for comparison, espeially to see what benefits
one would gain from upgrading.

Also the Doom3 timedemo is still a pretty standard benchmarking tool as
is 3DMark05. To see how better cards perform on older benchmarks would help with comparisons, too.

and got a reply from Aaron

Howdy,

We'd love to do everything under the sun if we could, but you have to
understand the vast amount of resources that goes into a single update
- we don't just benchmark cards and add them to the charts, we have to
re-benchmark them all to account for new drivers and so on. It takes a
good solid month of testing as it is. That's why not everything is in there,
but we are trying our hardest...

---

Well, that answers it.

Thanks Aaron.

What I'm doing is recreating the same test conditions (ha!) as best I can, running the same benchmark, finding a new card that has about the same result to see how what I have compares with what I could get.
