what socket is conroe gonna be?

sorry, i'm an amd fanboy and never payed attention to intel sockets, so what will the socket be for an e6700? and are there any motherboards out right now that would support it?

Socket 775 (sometime refered to as T), yes MBs are out there to be had:

Also, Intel's 975X BadAxe MB -- which is turning into quite a decent enthusiast MB.

Though the 975X also supports all other Intel Dual core --- Core 2 requires VRM 11.0 standard, so one needs to ensure they validate that the board works with Core 2 -- this is the really sucky thing, it is not drop in compatible with older 975x boards.

Just make sure if you get a Bad Axe mother board that the rev is -304 or greater. If you don't then you will need to do some intricate solder rework to the board to support the Conroe processor.

Since the Bad Axe -304 board has the VRM 11 which is needed to support the Conroe, I believe it should also be able to support or Kentsfield too. Don't know if there will need to be a specific Bios that has the uCode for the Kentsfield or not.
