Had ActiveSync for our smart phone users (Samsung i700 connected to
the Internet)in place and functioning for some time. One day it quits
with no identifiable event having caused it to cease. Now the
Application event log records the following events (in chronological
order with the most recent at the top of the list) when a smartphone
user attempts to synchronize itself with the Exchange server.

Type Source Category Event
Information ServerActiveSync None 3003
Success Audit MSExchangeIs Mailbox Store Logons 1009
Information ServerActiveSync None 3002

Event 3002 loads ActiveSync and 3003 unloads it. The load and unload
events always occur within the same second of time. I cannot
determine what is causing the unload at this time.

A brief synopsis of our environment
Exchange 2003 running on W2k SP4, IIS 5.0. All current critical
updates.

Microsoft does not seem to have addressed the issue publicly, or at
least I cannot find it if they have. Not even in our current TechNet
subscription distribution for November 2004.

I plan to look into the IIS logs next. OWA still works, it's just
ActiveSync that is not functional.

If anyone has observed this behavior or a similar situation, I would
greatly appreciate any assistance. Thank you in advance for your
help.
