I've Just got my self some Fujifilm 16X for my Toshiba ODD-DVD SD-R5272
Updated to Drivers last night and firmware from Toshiba lastnight. But it still refuses to Recognise the DVD+R X16 disks. What should i do? Anything else i need to update? Or should i get the older X8 DVD+R to make it work? Because the biggest difference i found in the two were that the newer X16 says that the Write Drive Should be "Basic Format Specification DVD+R 4.7Gb version 1.2" while the older DVD+R say It should just be "Basic Format Specification DVD+ 4.7GB" (no version stated)

I have the same trouble with my Plextor drive not reading some SmartBuy CD-R discs. I bought a 100pakc too and can't return them ;(

I just learned a lesson that we should check the drive manufacturer web site and find our drives. They typically have an approved media list showing what's compatiable.

I never even thought modern drives today would still be having trouble reading media from various manufacturers. It clouds my technology hope in the future. Such basic problems still exist yet we have GeForce 9999 cards out that cost a million bucks.

I Called up the Toshiba B*stards and they were like " All If not Most DVD Either "-" or "+" should Burn And Rewrite Just Fine If you Remembered to Update All of the Driver and Firmware from the Website. Which is Almost Fuking Impossible to find but i found it and loaded the lastest and greatest. From Toshiba and LG for my DVD-ROM drive and also Updated Every Driver and Software update there is for NERO just to make sure i'm not goofing up from anything. And those guys transferred me over and over until i got some goofy voised lady tellnig me " IF you've Updated with the Latest drivers and Have Microsofts Drivers too then "Basic Format Specification DVD+R 4.7Gb version 1.2" should'nt give you any problems because yoiu've probbly already got them with the Toshiba updates.
And i check it once more And now only difference it made it thta it refuses to Play or recognise the DVD as a empty or even working format. It just says You need a "DVD R/RW" for it and i have a DVD+R eencerted. atleast it knows what spindle its at but it still refuses to recognise that DVD as empty.
