965 or 975?

The Intel 975 is presumably the better chipset, since the model number is higher. When the ICH8r is paired with the 975 MCH, does anyone know what the actual differences between the 965 and 975 chipsets will be?

x65's are mainstream chipsets and x75's are performance chipsets where x denotes a number from 0-9.

I have the 865PE chipset currently. There was a 875 version as well.

Don't buy a motherboard based on the chipset alone. Sometimes motherboard companies like asus takes the x65 chipset and adds stuff to be compairable to the x75 at the reduced pricing using 3rd party vendors like VIA or Promise.
