Hey I bought a nice intel 975x chipset board about a month ago. How will I know if it can support the conroe chips without buying a conroe chip when they come out?????

Its an asus p5wd2-e premium (kick ass board with an intel 930 on it)

This is what I found on ASUS website:

CPU LGA775 socket for Intel® Pentium 4/Celeron CPU
Support Intel Pentium® Processor Extreme Edition & Intel Pentium® D Processor
Support Intel next generation 65nm CPU
Compatible with Intel® 05B/ 05A and 04B/04A processors
Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology ready

The Support Intel next generation 65nm CPU might mean Conroe and might not. I'm guessing you have a 50% chance that it will. I tried to find if the board has VRM 11 which is essential to support Conroe processors.

If it is a D27094-304, you are in luck. If it is the -303 model it doesn't have the necessary resistors.

Sorry IdiotNewb, you are mixing motherboards from different manufactures.

Yarricc has an ASUS 975X based motherboard and not a Bad Axe motherboard from Intel.

But you are correct that if the Boards AA# is D27094-304 it will work correctly out of the box with all Conroe processors including the X6800 Core Duo Extreme. :D
