CPU: AMD X2 3800+ (am2)
Mobo: Gigabyte ga-m55plus-s3g
Ram: Corsair DDR2-533 1gig
HD: Seagate 160 sataII
PSU: Enermax 485w
Vid Card: 6800gs (already have dun plan to upgrade)

how does that looks so far?? im not a hardcore gamer im just using it as casual surfin, photoshop, illustrator. I do have a budget nth more then 700 i think this is right on the line. But any suggestions on these parts would be welcome!

thanks guys!

Please link to the parts you are getting, or at the very least post prices with your parts next time, so we can compare them with our possible suggestions.

Here are my suggested changes:

Mobo: Asus M2N-E

Video: eVGA Geforce 7600GT

Power Supply: I'll let someone else recommend a better supply, but you could get away with only using a 450W, possibly even a 400W supply.

You could use a Thermaltake TR2 W0070 ATX 430W if your low on budget. A 430W should be able to cut it.

That PSU might not have enough amps on the 12v rail to run a 7600GT, but one never knows. Right now, I'm running the rig in my siggy on that PSU w/o any problems.

i didnt think the 76gts have a molex connector and they are 90nm
and have less transistors so the thermaltake 430 should be fine
and for around 30 bucks at new egg he cant go to wrong
that is unless he gets a bad one

That's true; the 7600GT gets all its power from the PCIe slot. It should work, but the only way to find out is to try it!

Your specs could be better, they could also be worse.

Honestly, I think you could probably get better performance for around the same price by going conroe with the E6300 cpu. Really its just a pain to switch out ram, mobo, and cpu... but you are already doing that with this AM2 configuration.

For a nice psu on a budget, I know that radioshack online is selling Ultra ULT31845 X-Finity 500W Power Supply for $9.99 after rebates.

good luck!

DDR2-533 is the worst possible RAM for AMD, and even less 1GB. Shadowduck told me that to run faster than s939 on an AM2 system, you'll need at least 1GB of DDR2-800. I'd recommend 1GB or 2GB of Corsair XMS DDR2-800 memory.
