Hi

I wanted to upgrade my M/B from 1Gb to 2Gb of memory. So I got hold of 2 x 1Gb PC3200 Non-ECC modules from SCAN.co.uk.

I took out the 2 x 512Mb modules and replaced with the new 1G's

it failed to boot, nothing on the screen.

I tried to put the modules in together so 2 x 512 and 2x1G, that does boot , but only sees the 1Gb total from the 2x 512mb modules.

I tried them in the blue sockets as well as in the black.

The bios has been upgraded (1020), any suggestions?

The M/B should be ok for 4 x 1Gb modules.

Its a Intel P4 3Ghz CPU

Its driving me nuts

Try 1x1GB stick at a time, one may be faulty.

I tried the 2 x 1Gb sticks today at work in a HP PC with the same 3Ghz P4 CPU in it and the memory is ok, came up with 2048MB and Windows XP booted nicely.

Wonder what the problem could be with my ASUS M/B  :?:

Have you overclocked at all? If so, try default MB settings. It may be that the new RAM doesn't overclock aswellasyour current stuff.

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious.

cam, np at all in fact the M/B always try to overclock by default and I always turn it off to run at the standard settings.

I have spoken to a few other IT guys at work and they suggest trying to not install it in Dual but single mode to see if it will work then. I gona give that a go and see what happens 8O
