Is the price difference worth the difference in performance for the average user (gamer who plays about 1 good RPG/quarter).

Thanks!

Eddie

Go for the E6600, then overclock it. The 6700 is identical to the 6600, just clocked higher, but you're paying more for a higher stock speed. Not worth it IMO when the Conroe's have been shown to have good overclocking potential.

I agree, the E6600 seems to be the sweet-spot for price/performance. The main advantage of the E6700, is if you want to overclock through the roof, it has the higher multiplier needed for higher speeds.

We're not your average user.
Go back to cnet forums if you want average users and buy yourself a Dell while you're at it.

I would go with the E6600 and save myself 200 bucks for some good O/C ram plus an aftermarket heatsink like a scythe ninja.

Haha, i didn't mean to offend anyone.

Make sure that you get the correct memory though, otherwise you'll be in for another purchase.
i'm a little out of touch with the new DDR2 speeds... but i'm sure you would need something higher than 667 to get up to 3 ghz. maybe 800?

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, i still got DDR in my computer. :?:
