1.5 TB Low-Power HDDs: Green Gets Big

The latest 2 TB hard drives are still expensive, but 1.5 TB disks provide low power consumption at a better cost-to-capacity ratio. We look at offerings from Samsung and Western Digital to determine the value of taking a step down from the flagships. Read more

MSI Eclipse Plus: Does nForce 200 Boost 3-Way SLI?

With 36 lanes of PCIe 2.0, 3-way SLI could be the X58 chipset’s biggest challenge. If that turns out to be true, is Nvidia’s nForce 200 controller hub, which multiplexes the platform's connectivity, a solution? We compare three configurations to find out. Read more

I may buy a friend such a unit for Christmas. Its been sometime since I
owned a 360LX. I remember them being a little slow, but I also remember
me being new to the palmtops back then.

If I do buy this for my friend, what can I expect on the battery life?

Well, from *those* batteries probably not much - they are quite old.
Normal AAs or a newer set of rechargables would be ok I suspect - but
I don't know if non-NiMH rechargables will recharge in a 360LX and you
may have to do some digging online to find new(er) NiMH rechargables.
Here is a short review of it -

It is almost 10 years old. Wow! Still, if it had VPN support, I'd
likely take a look at one for that price too! :-)

My 360lx charges NiMH 2000mAh cells quite happily (as does my 200lx).
Other rechargable technologies are not recommended in the 360lx, and I
don't know why.

Hope this helps,
Nick.
