i know you dont like my grammar. but i would think that
ati and nvidia are working with microsoft,
and microsoft has delayed vista <still working the bugs out>
so i think ati and nvidia are waiting for microsoft to get
everything close to right. hell you know how the updates,
and patches and all that stuff goes.
so i think dx10 cards and vista will come out about the same time.
i personally cant wait till flight simulatorx. as i am a big flight sim fan.
and when it does i will have to get rid of the old 68oogt and get a
dx10 card.

DX10 cards will be out end of this year-january 2007. the G80 by nvidia supposed to be out september-october and the R600 by ati is supposed to be out in december.

See the thing is those 3 threads dont really tell anything. Some guy says they will come after vista which is absoltetly wrong, another says it'll be out next week. So i started a thread where maybe i got a decent answer, and i did, i speculated around october-ish.

Much as Im enjoying this flame war I thought I would ask a few questions of my own in the spirit of the post.

Currently I am saving up to build myself a new conroe based system, Im planning to have the money together by mid-august (fingers crossed). Im really annoyed that the G80 wont be out by then, im tempted to wait for its release but the way things are going I could be waiting way into october/november.

On the other hand I dont want to invest in a 7900 only to A) have the prices pummet when the G80 does come out and B) Not have DX10 support.

Is DX really going to be as amazyzing as microsoft says it will be? Will anything support DX10 when it comes out (other than FSX, which incidently is the main reason I want DX10)? Will a 7900GX last me another year/two?

So many questions.

P.S. Sorry for hijacking ur post but I thought it was relevant.

i would get a 7600GT for around a 150 bucks and then wait until january or longer for a full range of DX10, just my 2 cents.

the 7900GT would last u a year or 2 easy.

Does anyone have any idea what kinda price range the G80 will be in? Im looking for a midrange card for about £200 (Im from the UK) will they release a midrange version of the G80 straight away or will that take a few more weeks?

Top end will be 400-500. mid range should be 200. all numbers are USD.

Intels intergrated DX10 GPU is comming about a month after Core 2 Duo releases. Intel may also have a card version and its new GPU is to have T&L.

Nvidia will beat ATI with a release date of September-October launch for the G80.

RD600, the slower 80nm, will arrive early November or the faster, 65nm, versions by end of December.
