Not long ago I overclocked my 9800pro while overclocking my fsb at the same time... without putting a divider on the AGP/PCI bus... so it fried.

So I went to futureshop... and Bestbuy.... long story short I ended up scamming some nice guy and bought myself a

x800xl (AGP) which runs at 400/490 stock

anyways I ended up reading up on someone finding the r420 GPU in the card's bios... and I too found this.. and more. The bios told me that the card was actually an XT?

For 140$ Canadian?!?!?!

Well i overclocked it.

And boy did it stretch. The core went to 587Mhz and the Memory to 600Mhz. Both were willing to go farther without artifacts but since it is the summer here I took them back some ways. As we speek I am running Atitool for 12min now at 550/550 73C GPU and 39C Ambient.

When this killer summer is over I plan to run it at 570/600 as it seemed to be happy at that speed, just a little too hot for my liking.

550/550 for 140$ Canadian muahahah

Edit: Lets forget about my accident

SO, to recap.

My x800xl AGP which I paid 140$ Canadian, 1 month ago, from Bestbuy (before they even had it on sale) (ha!) is now running happily at

550 GPU / 1100 MEM.

And that is up from my unit's stock speed 398 GPU / 486 MEM.

Radeon x800xl AGP ( Radeon X800 XT AGP [0x4A4B] )
16 Pipelines
256 GDDR3 at 1100 Mhz (550 Mhz x2)

All for 140$?

And they sell these at Futureshop for 160$?

Maybe spending a little... in the right places... can go a long way.

p.s. Will update in the winter with more agressive numbers
