Could it be possible that a motherboard with a PCI-E x 16 slot would not be compatible with certain PCI-E cards because of its chipset?
According to the graphics card compatibility page for this motherboard many graphics cards are not supported, like my 7900 GT.

Interesting. There shouldnt be any compatability issues with cards and interfaces, but there is always a first time, I guess.

Provide some information on the motherboard and maybe a link to the downloadable copy of the manual, and I'll take a looksee.
