When is the AM2 Opteron coming out? Need some soon!

We heard the new AM2 Opteron was going to be introduced and available the first of June. Now I am hearing July at best, anyone know when the pipe will be filled and Retail sales begin?

It wont come out for am2 only for socket F.

Right DVD Socket F for the Athlon, thought they might call all them AM2. The specs call out socket F...

Questions I could not get AMD to Answer are:

What is different between the Athlon & Opteron 200 series?

Bench marks for Athlon & Equal Opteron?

They will not make any comment except to say Opteron is for 2 or more CPU's

The opteron 2 series is different from an x2 in that the opty 2xx is s940 requires regiestered ram and it can run in a dual proc configuration(not dual core dual proc meaning 2 on the same mobo) And the x2 is cheaper then the 2 series opty. There performance is about the same.

I thought the difference between Opterons and Athlons was that Opterons had 3 HT links as opposed to 1 for Athlons?!

For the 8 series model's yes but for the 2 series it's 2 links and the 1 series and x2 has only one link.

There were some part supply issues and the launch got pushed back to Aug1. Of course this was after it got pushed forward.

No they decided to release 1xx on AM2.

There will be no 1xx Opterons for sAM2 or s1207.
There is new Opteron numbering with 4 digits. For sAM2 there will be 1xxx and 2xxx. The 2xxx will be for 4x4.
