Why tomshardware does not include SETI benchmarks in the CPU charts?
I'd like to choose the best CPU for SETI but for less than 180 euros. I'm thinking on presler 930 (180 euros) ou AMD 64 3800+ (140 euros)
Any idea?

thanks

I suggest you try stop SETI and run Folding at Home, a much nicer goal IMO, and the team 40051 rox =)

If ou really want to crunch number, runnin 2 instance on a dual core would be good. Really cheap way to do that is on Pentium D 805, you can OC this baby back to 800FSB and be in business!

You could search the seti results from other member to verify that. But I would wait a little to see the conroe performance too. Seti Enhanced takes lots of time to process a W.U. Maybe this month there will be some optimized clients, and we'll be able to see the real processor speed and power, becouse the way it is now, no one can tell that precisely.
But just for the record, I have raised my oc to 2.7ghz and my opteron is doing (with the standard application "5.15enhanced") 3h:30min p/W.U.
