Try this:

AM2 3200+
eVGA 7600GT
1GB (2 x 512MB) Corsair Value Select DDR2-667 or Corsair XMS DDR2-800 if you can afford
Asus M2N-E
Antec SmartPower 500W Power Supply
160GB SeaGate Barracuda Hard drive or something else

I'm not sure about the price but it should be around $600 I think. Heh, I've recommended to wait for Intel Conroe to enough people, for now I'll just customize AM2 systems to people unless they state that they prefer Conroe. Oh and by the way, after July 24th, you might wanna upgrade your CPU to a dual-core since prices will drop.

Ya thats roughly 600 bucks, do go AM2 though, thats about the same price, maybe even less of a S939 3200. It'll hold you over for a period of time.

Notice "AM2 3200+" and "Asus M2N-E"? They're both for socket AM2, not 939.

If you want cheaper prices, wait until July where dual-core 939's will have their prices slashed by half. Waiting until July to purchase dual-core cpu's like the 3800+ will give you the most performance per price than just buying a single-core cpu ie. 3200+ right now. I'd suggest you wait :D.

i highly disagree with getting ddr2-800 memory because i read somthing about socket am2 procs that it is not very effective with clock speeds less than 2.4ghz. plus getting ddr2 667 will cost less and there will be almost no difference in performance. I agree with getting am2 if you want a upgrade path.

shadowduck, help me out in explaining that AM2 sucks without at least 1GB of DDR2-800. DDR2-667 sucks for AM2 is what shadowduck told me.
