7900GT underperforming?

Hey, im a first timer here

Would just like to ask for some advice on my new graphics card that I bought the other day.
Its a Chaintech 7900GT. I have an AMD 3200 (939), 1gig ram, Biostar NF4-ULA9 mobo, 1x 80gig sata HD and a 350W smartpower Antec PSU

and im only getting 7568 marks in 3dmark 2005 with default clocks (450/660) ? Doesnt this seem rather low for this 'high-end gfx card'?

Overclocked at 500/701 I get 8048

That's a powerfull piece of kit you have if your graphics card is undererfrominh it could you processor is holding it back being only a 3200.

That's about right really, if anything update your drivers to 90.31.

Ahh thanks guys.

Im using the forceware 91.28 drivers. I find that changing them dont really make much of a difference, maybe 200-300 points.

Considered overclocking the CPU, will try it out now.

Also, will 1T ram timings make a diffirence? Im sitting on 2T, but can change it

Overclocked CPU from 2GHz to 2.2

New score of 8268 from 8048 with GFX overclocked @ 500/701

Only 200? Bleh

Do you ever play games, or do you just run benchmarks all day?

Go play games and forget about it. You have a decent machine, not top of the line but not a complete POS so be happy. Now, go frag something.

Lol naa I mostly play games. I shuffle in between BF2, dota and Q3

But the main reason im questioning it is because im not getting my frames for BF2 with everything on high. I know im demanding a bit much but it doesnt go past 55, sometimes drops to 30. For the price I paid, dont I deserve more anyway

Be sure you are comparing apples to apples with regard to what others are getting with their machines. Just having the same card still might give you an orange.
