my 6600GT runs at about 45 degrees celcius, I'm not sure what the maximum temps i can go to or how far i can push my GPU. Also could people please suggest some good OCing software, thanks

Hmm I've heard varying reports about tempts with no more then 55C for GPU's. However I know I wouldn't even push mine close to that, I'd go for 50C max and stress test to make sure the temp doesnt shoot up and damage the card.

Rivatuner & Coolbits are both good for overclocking nvidia cards.

yes 70-80 under load is normal.

use coolbits or tweaked drivers that have coolbits in it to do your OC'ing.

if youve got the AGP version like mine its stock at 500/900 and will easy OC to around 575/1000 just by using the Auto Detect feature.

it should hit about 600/1150 if you really push it.

I've taken mine to 570/1150. The auto-detect feature in Coolbits said 575/1170, but I decided to gave it a little margin.
Anyway, it was getting pretty hot, and I dropped the OC. Running stock now...

coolbits is what I use. As for your temp, 45c at idle is VERY cold for a 6600gt haha... Well depends on your method and ambient temps of course... but for air cooling that is a good temp. I have mine cranked up quite a bit, you should get up to around 4k 3d05 with a great o/c. I have had mine o/c quite abit for over a year now. Idles 45-50 and gets up to 70c and that is with a aftermarket cooler and the hot texas weather.
