Im going to buy an HDD.
I can either buy an IDE/ATA HDD now, or wait and buy a SATA HDD.
Is there really a large enough difference beetween them for me to wait and get the SATA or is it small and thus i should just buy the ATA now?
Thank You.

Performance-wise there isn't that much of a difference for equivalent models, but you have to keep in mind that PATA (standard old ATA) will probably a thing of the past in a few years, some motherboards are now equiped with only a single PATA port (probably just because CD/DVD are rarely SATA). Therefore, if you buy a PATA HDD now, you might not be able to fit it in a future upgraded system.

The other thing is that the most recently introduced HDD are generaly a bit more performant than old ones and sometimes are exclusively available in SATA.

That is pretty much the only reasons I would go one way or another.

Best bet is to wait, the PATA harddrive standard is dying quickly and if you want to use your harddrive in a future computer, purcahse a SATA and get an adaptor for now.

40$? Well, i dont think i have much of a chance finding it around here anyway.
Ill either buy the IDE or wait, since its 250Gb and ill most likely want to transfer it to a new computer in several years.
