Mobo: I haven't really decided yet, but maybe ASUS P5B Deluxe or Gigabyte's P965 board. $200 at most

RAM: definetely some Corsair 2 GB depending on mobo $150

Case: got it, Super LANboy for 14.99 USD, brand new

PSU: Antec Smartpower 500w, probably
$40-$50

GPU: either ATI's x1900xt All-in-Wonder or an eVGA 512 MB 7900GT-$300

HD: Seagate Barracuda 300 GB SATA for $90, already have it



Total:about 1333+$50 shipping



Critique this please and tell me what is a waste of money or what I would be better off with. This is only for the system, not the monitor and other stuff such as keyboard and stuff. CRITIQUE!CRITIQUE!!!!!!

I would get a better case a $15 dollar case sounds really shitty also you should replace the Ram
For the video card grab a 1800XT 512 MB
A 1900xt will cost alot more then 300 dollars :lol:

The case was 65 bucks before the sale for ur info. I like the case. It has 2 120mm fans and they alone cost more than 15 bucks. I already got the card 2 and for 300 bucks off of newegg.

Im sorry you said the case was 15 also you screwed up there isnt a 1900xt for 300 you bought a X1900 the 1800xt will eat that card alive

The Super Lanboy case isn't bad. I also got the $15 deal at Fry's and was reasonably impressed with the quality. It has nice rubber-isolated 120mm fans and rubber bushings to isolate the hard drives from the case, all in the name of noise reduction.
Its normal price is in the $80 region, with no PS.

Price is irrelevant. I got a cheiftek(or something like that) Dragon Mid Tower for 15 or 20 bucks 18 months ago, and i have absolutely no complaints. I've seen the same case sell for north of $80 since then.

In the end, it's a case....some look better than others...some are quieters than others...some are lighter than others....but most of them will do the job.

Conroe is supposed to run cool, so I don't think it matters.

In the end its what holds are you spendy parts and you want great airflow
I didnt know much about the "super lan boy" and thats why i thought wow a 15 dollar case must be a really shitty plastic case
