my old emachine's (c2480) PSU got messed up so i replaced the PSU and i got no post. i replaced the motherboard later and it did post. after installing windows, i had to shut down the computer because i had something else to do. when i try turning on the pc later, i get no post with the new motherboard.

did the new PSU fry my new mobo or did my new mobo just die?

i'm confused and frustrated

if it helps:
athlon xp 2400+
1 x 512mb pc2100 samsung RAM
new mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813186029
aspire 420watt psu

note that fans spin, hdd light comes on, optical drives eject, and i get no beeps. i just get no post. also, the monitor DOES work because i tried it with my other pc AND it doesn't post with both onboard video and from a video card. any help would be appreciated.

You might of fried the motherboard. I did it once without knowing, did you put the system together while wearing socks or on carpet? =[

In the past i've found out that the EMachines blew their psu all the time and many times the mb went with it.
What it sounds like to me is that the motherboard is bad.
If you dont get a post or anything on the screen then that would be my first guess for the fact that it's a lot easier to mess up a mb when installing it then it is to kill a psu.

I would unplug the power supply and remove the atx 20 pin connector to reset the power. If you still can't post, try removing the board battery for about 1 minute.
