My friend who works at a computer store was told by the techs when he mentioned he was thinking of purchasing a second raptor to run in Raid 0 that he would only notice about a 20% performance gain due to the fact that the motherboard would somehow bottleneck it. I was wondering if this claim could be substantiated. What part of the motherboard would bottleneck it, and if it even would, would they know for certain since they didn't even know what motherboard he had?

Any insight is appreciated.

i assume that he used striping...the performance gain is not 100%....there is a gain but not 100%....
20% sounds a little low ..but not samething that he should be worried about....

Yeah, I was thinking that 20% was also a little low. Also, does anyone have any idea as to what part of the motherboard would bottleneck it?
