I want to upgrade my video card, and the two that are at the local store that are within my budget and criteria, they are: "BFG Technologies 3D Fuzion GeForce 6200 Video Card, 8x AGP, 128MB DDR" and "VisionTek Radeon XTasy X1300 Video Card, 8x AGP, 256MB DDR2". I was wondering which would give the best performance. I am coming from a GeForce FX5200, so I know both will be a noticeable boost, but which card will be the most performance boost. I play games like Civ4 and Ut2004, and I don't mind over clocking or not running the games full quality (like I have been doing).

My budget is $120 but I would really like it to be at the local store, and I have listed the only two that are at the store that I would consider. I only am restricted to the local store because I am not old enough to have a credit card to shop online, and my parents don't like online shopping.

x 1300 pro,x1600 pro,6600 and 6600 gt are available, maybe 6200 but you care about that it must be td not tc(turbo cache)and i dont know you system. more powerfull cards than these cards can be block by your system (system limits)or your psu

Of the two, the X1300 is better. But It's not an upgrade I would recommend. neither of those two cards is worth anywhere near $100.

You need to look around for a better local deal, or convince your parents that you can have 2x-5x the performance going online vs. get ripped off locally. Ati has a X800XL for $119 shipped free in their clearance section. You can find an agp 6600GT new for under $110, which isn't bad, but still nowheres near the X800XL level of performance.

Just an example of what the X800XL can do, look here at 1280x1024 with AA/AF in Farcry. Playable on the X800XL averaging 50 FPS. The 6200 averages 8 fps. Even playing 1024x768 with no aa or af, the 6200 can't average 30 fps without reducing details.

Anyway, if you can't buy the X800XL or find a 6600GT / X1600 pro at a local shop within range, at least look for a cheap 9700 pro 9800 pro. A plain 6600 (non GT) would be the minimum I'd recommend. Please don't spend $100+ on a 6200 or X1300.

The X800XL is currently the best AGP bang for your buck, but if you can't get your hands on one, the 6600GT is also a good card.

Ok, I think the online deals are a better use for my money, so I will not get either of those two cards at the local store. My birthday is just a few weeks away so I might be able to get some more money, so I think I might just wait until I can get a pci-e mobo.

My system is:
AthlonXP (Barton) 3200+
Biostar M7NCG400 (Nforce2)
1024mb PNY pc3200 RAM (dual channel)
400W No Name PSU (but came from a much higher systen with 6600GT)
Nvidia GeForce FX5200

I think this will be a good upgrade. I still run an xp 2100+ and a Nvidia 6800 128mb. There are no games that are not playable for me with this system. Enough with my opinion, here are some great tools to help you decide for yourself.

Excellent Price Guide/Analysis CLICK HERE. I recommend you take a look at this price guide and the authors comments.

Also, below is another link that can help you to decide if it is worth spending an extra $50 for a better upgrade. See if your favorite game will run well with the new hardware, or if you need to kick it up a notch. To use the link below simply put in choice a and choice b, then select the benchmark you want to compare. A bar graph is displayed, your two choices will be blue and you can decide which gives you the best bang for your buck/pound/euro.

if you were goin to upgrade your whole system u could invest in an agp card now an get the asrock s939 dual which has agp and pci-e for future upgrades and get an opty 144/146 (look on ebay for cabne stepping) which is all you need for playing games to be honest
