Go for a S939 X2, you'll be able to use the PC-3200 memory from your current system, you won't have that option if you go LGA775 (no DDR1 support AFAIK).

What kind of a budget are you on? Thats the important thing to keep in mind.

With a choice of Pentium-D, or AMD X2, I would pick Core 2 Duo :)

i would definetly go With AMD X2 intel requirs more watts and tends to generate alote of heat, expesialy the higher modles with duel HT.

Is that only one the choices!?!?! Lol. Ku st woke up, kind mad and cranky lol. I'd be lucky if I get a Conroe by Christmas!

i think you'll be surprised how quick you'll be able to buy one. AM2 cpu's came out pretty quick and Intel produces more cpu's than amd.

Meh... AMD was ramped up production on AM2 back in Feb/Mar. They spent a lot of time making parts so there wouldn't be a shortage. AFAIK, Intel has only recently begun to make Core Duo's (desktop). Also, Core Duo production is like less than 35%.

But who knows, there may be plenty of them at launch. But when u consider the price of those bad boys, I wouldn't count on it.

If you have money go for the X2, if not, take PD only if you plan for heavy multitasking and can't afford the X2.
