Id hardly call this affordable, an affordable gaming laptop would be about $600, obviously with lower graphics etc but would play all games at least minimum settings

This new gaming laptop is priced under $1,200 USD.

MSI's new Windows 8-based GX60 gaming laptop will be available this week at participating retailers starting at $1,299.99 USD.

lol. love how it says in the headline "priced under 1200" then at the end it says starting at 1299. I seriously do not understand how SO many typos get through. Anandtech has hardly any, yet ATLEAST every other news article here has some

[citation][nom]davinci cod[/nom]Why they use APU instead of regular cpu if they have 7970 in also ?[/citation]
because that's the only thing AMD is manufacturing for mobile?
and even Intel's Ivys are all technically APUs as well ?

Naturally the average consumer is looking for $1000+ laptop, they will likely go for Apple.

Toms hardware Get your F*CKIN act together!!!!

[citation][nom]otacon72[/nom]Gaming and APU two words that should never be used in the same sentence..lmao. Whoever buys that thing needs to have their head examined.[/citation]

Bah! Im adequately pleased with the apu-based (A8-3870K) desktop I built. Dirt 3, 1080p, medium settings, 2x aa... and I think this laptop can deliver much better than that. What more could you ask for in a $1200 laptop that has a msrp of $1299.99 that'll likely go on sale for $999.99 shortly.

With the specs of a 600 USD Windows based laptop and much OS support as Windows 98 has today ?

What would make this affordable is a good 720p Display, 4gb RAM, 500gb Hard Drive (preferably 7200rpm), AMD 7970m and AMD A10 APU all for $650 to $700! If I'm looking for gaming on a budget I could sacrifice the "Full HD" 15-inch screen since its so small to me that it doesn't matter. Mobile Gaming on a cheap budget imho should be all about the best CPU and GPU you can get for cheap and everything else barebones.

spending 1k$ for something that's worth 500$ isn't smart.

As far as I can tell, the 7970M is ATI's top of the line mobile GPU. What makes this laptop 'affordable' is that you presumably cannot find such a powerful GPU in any other laptop for $1,300. Unless you can find a cheaper laptop with that GPU or better, you can't complain that this claim of affordability is false. Apples to apples.

$1299.99........

Affordable???.....

That is NOT affordable! Affordable is like $3-400.00, wth Tom's? Are you guys not based in the US? Do you guys not understand how poor most of the country is right now? I'm very happy with my Dell e6410 "metal" cased laptop that I got for $275, or something around there and it plays everything at an exceptable frame rate.

Wow... just... WOW!

I believe the writer of the article was trying to say that the laptop costs less than 1200 without an OS guys, so factor in the extra 100 quid for the OS. Xotic pc allows you to purchase laptops OS free.

thats not a gameing laptop at that point, thats just getting by. this if i remember where the gpu is ranked, could play most games at 1920x1080 with few things, like shadows, being reduced to get a playable framerate

[citation][nom]Thomas Creel[/nom]Have to wonder, who the hell buys these things?[/citation]
i wouldnt buy this, not because its expensive, but because if i wanted a laptop it would need to be a 1920x1200 desktop replacement.
