Hi, my brother has an old Asus P4S533-X motherboard with a Pentium 3 or 4 i think. One day he opened the case and was tinkering with something (he doesn't really know what hes doing) and when he turned it on again, the mouse and USB ports don't work. Are they permanently broken or is there something I can do to fix it? Thanks

neer the top of the mobo, by the usb and mouse/keyboard ports, there are a few jumpers, check the manual what they are for (probly the spacebar or move mouse on features) and make sure the jumpers are in the right position and if there are any jumpers at all. That might be the problem.

Hope this helps

Thanks a lot, that solved the problem. In the manual they're called the USB device wake up jumpers, and they were in the normal default positions on the motherboard. But I took them out and put them back in and for some reason that made the mouse work again. How could anyone know that would was the problem? Obscure things like this make things difficult.
