I Got a question for ya's

Im Planning on getting a whole new computer soon.. And im stuck on graphics cards..

And my problem is which one is better?

2 7900GT's SLIed or just one 7900GTX?

Going by benchmarks ive read the 7900GT's in SLI is better by a little bit, But its an extra $120, Do you people think its a good idea to grab the 2 7900GT's or just go for the 7900GTX?

And also which brand of video cards do you recommend??
Most of the places ive looked at recommend the XFX And BFG.. But are there other good ones ? or should i stick with these ones?

Ok Thanks Guys :)

SLI is for high res gaming, so if you want to game at resolutions past 1280*1024 thats when SLI shows his capacity. If you keep it at 1280 resolutions and dont go higher, then the 7900gtx would be better. Correct me if im wrong.

If you have a monitor that's bigger than 19 inches then get the two GTs, however if you have a monitor up to and including 19 inches then don't bother with SLi, it won't be any faster.

Ok thanks for ya help..
Ive currently got a BenQ 19 Inch CRT, But im planning on getting an LCD sometime soon, I Usually run my games at 1280*1024 Resoultion, But i would like to go higher which i think would be cool :p

But if i was to get SLI would it acturally run worse at lower Resoultions than the GTX or would it be the same?

It wouldn't run worse, but it wouldn't run $120 better, if you see what I mean.

Unless you get an LCD that's bigger than 19" then seriously, don't bother with SLi, you'll be wasting your money. I know the idea of running higher resolutions than 1280x1024 sounds nice, but on a 19" screen you won't see the difference.

Brands dont really mather. I've heard that leadtek works a very long time together with nvidia, my G6600 was from leadtek and did it very well. But i also read that EVGA has lifetime warrenty. Just look for a brand that has nice extra things for a nice price or just the cheapest. They will all perform like they have to.

There was a whole thread about this a few weeks ago, have a search.

Personally I try to steer away from brands and just look at a bunch of specs - I don't think that many people would go for a brand because of the warrenty they offer rather than the fact that they offer a bigger clockspeed than the others.

No thats true. But i just gave him a few options so he can buy what he thinks is best. I would prefer speed over warrenty too :)

It could, but the GTX will basically quarantee x number of framerates. With two GTs, you might get 5fps more, maybe 1 fps more (from a single 7900GT).

I would recommend a single 7900GT, and the upgrade to a DX10 card in a few months.
