if you OC (overclock) no. If you don't maybe. The 200MHz does show up in games somewhat. Also the prices are dropping on 3800+ and 4200+ next week. i wa sglancing at newegg and THOUGHT the dual core 3800+ was $144 but it's the single core.

I hope they get rid of this overlap.

Go for the opteron 165, ~$30 bucks more than the 3800+ and a much more powerful proc, especially If you are o'cing (it comes with a pretty nice hsf). I have had mine for about 6 months and it's been purring along at 2.3ghz with stock cooling, and no temp problems.

I'm going to get the 3800 and OC, but I'm waiting for the price drops. I'd suggest you do the same, especially with respect waiting for the price drops.

If gaming is your forte', then you'd be better getting the 3800+, and put the $100 savings towards a better graphics card.

Hold off your buying urges till August or September as there will be a price drop at the end of July.

If you already have a S939 platform and just upgrading the CPU, the 3800 x 2 is the way to go.........you'll hardly see any difference!

If you're in the market to buy a new system and if the budget is alright....why not consider a Conroe??
