Okay, this is new to me. This was my first attempt to add new machines to an
existing network.

I added three new computers to the network. Of the three machines, two of
them belonged to the name domain (sql2) and the third machine belonged to
another domain (pacific). The network is configured in 4 domains (sql2,
pacific, ATS and winterhawk). The configuration was not my idea, but I think
it came out of the way the different companies merged and the network was
just combined and added over time.

Anyway, the sql2 domain is a windows 2000 domain running with active
directory. Two of the new machines were originally on the nework (under the
SQL2 domain, with a user name, id, password, etc.). The new machines were
added to the network via the windows xp wizzards and I even copied the
setting (using the settings from the old computers and transfering them using
the windows xp computer setup wizzard). Anyway, everything appears to be
okay, as I can see and access all of the shared resources throughout the
network. I have not checked to see if new accounts were setup in active
directory when the new machines were created (just for your information, the
original machines were iveta and tom and the new machines are iveta2 and
tom2, the tom1 machine is still on the network and the old iveta1 machine was
removed and replaced a curtis1 machine, and is now known as curtis2). I was
hoping that the windows xp wizzard would have setup the info on the windows
2000 machine, seeing how it was configured and everything appears to be
working fine.

But my question is as follows: when I was on iveta2, I installed norton
ghost 9 to that machine and tried to connect to a shared directory on the
windows 2000 server to image the iveta2 c drive to make a backup for backup
purposes. I could not get the iveta2 machine to connect to the shared
resource under norton ghost, but I can connect to resources on the windows
2000 machine in windows xp alone.

My other concern is getting norton ghost 2003 to connect to windows 2000
client (its a dos client that is connecting to a windows 2000 server to image
the c drive from dos, as it is done in norton ghost 2003, not norton 9).
With Norton 2003, I can successfully configure the network card, but I cannot
connect to a windows 2000 server as I cannot install the dos client, has
anyone had any success in adding the dos client to a windows xp or windows 98
machine to get it to connect to a windows 2000 server running active
directory?

Edward Letendre.
