If I have understood properly the best memory ratio is 1:1.

So, PC2-4200 (266 Mhx4= 1066) is what I need (I don´t intend to overclock).

Then why is Asus recommeding the use of Kingston® HyperX® PC2-8500 for its P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP mobo.?

The Conroe won't be able to take advantage of PC2 8500.

you kind of left me hanging with that statement.
you may be right.
it seems the pc2 8500 was designed with intel in mind and with the shorter pipeline of the core2 cpu you would think the 1066 bus speed of the pc2 8500 would complement the core2.

I'm not looking for an argument .
I would like to learn why there would be no advantage.

A 64-bit memory bus at 1066MHz would only be able to use half of the memory's bandwidth in dual channel mode. AMD processors have an integrated memory controller that does not suffer from bottlenecks the way current Intel chips do. Will the Conroe still be able to use 1066MHz DDR2? Yes, but you’ll only really get half of the RAM’s maximum bandwidth. Even in this situation the Conroe does perform very well, but it's not able to use memory bandwidth as efficiently as AMD chips.

I would say your right on track with the current technology of today’s processors.
The Conroe data sheets have not hit Intel’s web site as of yet so I couldn’t tell you one way or another of its memory bandwidth utilization.
You would think that would have been addressed in the design of core architecture.
One step forward …two steps back.
I guess we will all know more in the months to come.
Thank you for responding.
