I'm going to be helping a friend put together a new PC and I was hoping you guys could check over my list of parts to see if this will offer some good bang-for-the-buck.

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (Venice @ 1.8GHz)
BIOSTAR TForce6100-939 Socket 939 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
Patriot Signature Series 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit
Geforce 6800 XTreme 256MB
Seagate Barracuda 160GB SATA Hard Drive
NEC 16X DVD±R DVD Burner Beige IDE Model ND-3550A
Antec LifeStyle SONATA II Case with 450W PSU

Mainly he just wants a new PC to replace his old one. He wants to be able to play most new games, though he doesn't need top-of-the-line graphics and needs to be fairly budget conscious. Anything you guys would recommend changing?

Well I'll take your advice under consideration. I think he'll be able to go for that better graphics card, but I'm not sure how much higher he can go beyond that. I know all the new CPUs are going to be AM2, but I'll have to check with him to see if future-proofing is within his budget. Thanks for the suggestions!
